Mediastinoscopy
Mediastinoscopy is a procedure that helps doctors observe inside the mediastin. ventricle – the area behind the sternum and between the lungs. This procedure is performed using a mediastinoscope, which is a thin, flexible tube with a light, small camera, and cutting tool on the end. This tube is inserted through a small incision just above the sternum, then slowly enters the mediastinum.
